The Queen’s Peach

              Alvechurch
                                       Bugle  4 – 035
A bright event on a dull London day - -  red and ermine posers wall to wall - - an establishment jolly - - God’s in his heaven and all’s right with the world !
Or -  was it all froth and no beer,  a tourist attraction, or a cynical exercise in disingenuousness, to placate an increasingly discontented electorate  ?.
Yes, the Queen's speech,  and to paraphrase Shakespeare possibly : full of sound and fury, signifying nothing,  and delivered by a Head of State whose eyes and tone betrayed her exasperation .
Ten minutes of repetitive, platitudinous, doggerel, and all begging the question : WHY does the poor woman allow herself to be subjected to this humiliating charade, and why are Lib Lab Con allowed to use her as a glossy cover for their leather bound catalogue of incompetence and maladministration ?
Theatre it certainly is, and presented by the B.B.C. to its heavily conditioned audience, as : our constitutional monarchy demonstrating extravagantly to the world, that our system is above reproach, and just that little bit better than everyone else’s - - -  Dimblebeesque harmony, a boat not for rocking.
MY GOVERNMENT WILL ! has acquired a distinctly hollow ring, and we all long for something much more hard edged, surely, and along the lines of :
I am extremely very dissatisfied with the  conduct of my government since I was last here  ! - - or
I have repeatedly asked my Prime Minister why he has disregarded for so long, my subjects legitimate calls for a referendum and also curbs on immigration, - - - -  then  :
I am sure you all share my concern over our rising National Debt, which has been increased by over fifty percent in four years.
And also, I need to be informed as a matter of urgency, why my subjects, in very significant numbers at the European elections, voted against my Prime Minister and the policies which he has opted to pursue without popular support  - - -  -
We hear nothing like this of course, despite our democratic right to know exactly what is said at those weekly audiences, which would reassure us that our monarch is safeguarding our interests, and that our concerns are receiving the level of attention, which she expects, and has charged her government with delivering.
Failure to act on her subjects behalf, would be a breach of her coronation oath, but as things stand, the Queen’s speech is simply free publicity for the party currently in power at Westminster.
She would do well to quote Cromwell :  You have been here too long for any good you may have done !  !  !
